The project

PMPlayer Ultraviolet is my modernization and re-release of PMPlayer Advanced, a homebrew media player for the Sony PSP. It is a hobby project that brings together my interest in older hardware and software development.

Playback and language support

The overhaul adds proper, full support for MKV and advanced H.264 features, giving the player more flexible video playback compatibility. It also adds subtitle support and CJK language support for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

Everyday use

The work includes major performance optimizations and a range of quality-of-life additions. Much of the focus is on making the player easier to use while working within the PSP’s hardware limits.
